Second Story Wardrobe LLC collects your email address for one reason: to send our newsletter. We do not sell your email address, rent it, trade it, or hand it over to any other business, marketer, data broker, or list. You can leave the list at any time, and we'll delete your address when you do.

What we collect

When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect:

• Your email address — required, because we can't send you anything without it.

• Basic signup details — the date and time you subscribed, and the page or form you used, which we keep as a record of your consent.

• Email engagement data — whether a message was opened and whether links in it were clicked. 

We don't ask for your mailing address, phone number, birthday, or payment information in order to subscribe, and we don't buy information about you from anyone else to append to your record.

Why we collect it

We use the information above only to:

1. Send you the newsletter you asked for.

2. Make sure it reaches you and looks right on your device.

3. Understand, in aggregate, which topics readers find useful, so we can write a better newsletter.

4. Keep a record showing that you consented to receive it and honor your request if you unsubscribe.

We do not use your email address for any purpose you didn't sign up for. If we ever want to use it for something new and materially different, we'll tell you first and give you the chance to say no.

Our commitment: we will not sell or share your information

To be as plain as possible:

• We will not sell your personal information to anyone, for money or for anything else of value.

• We will not rent, trade, barter, or otherwise transfer our subscriber list to another company.

• We will not share your email address with advertisers, sponsors, partners, affiliates, or data brokers.

• We do not use your information for targeted advertising on other platforms, and we do not add you to advertising audiences or "custom audience" tools.

• We do not use your information for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.

• If Second Story Wardrobe LLC is ever sold, merged, or acquired, we will not treat your email address as a transferable asset without first notifying you and giving you a meaningful opportunity to unsubscribe before any transfer occurs.

The one exception, stated honestly

We can't send email without an email delivery service. We use SquareSpace and MailerLite to store our subscriber list and deliver messages. 

These companies process your information on our behalf and under our instructions only. Our agreements with them prohibit using your information for their own purposes, selling it, or sharing it further. They are service providers (not recipients of a sale) but you should know they exist, because "no one else touches your data" would not be true, and we would rather tell you the truth.

The only other circumstance in which we would disclose your information is if we are legally required to (for example, in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or lawful government demand). If that happens, we will notify you unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we remove you from active mailings immediately and delete your address from our records within 30 days, except that we may retain a minimal suppression record (typically a one-way hash or the address alone, with no other data) solely to make sure we don't accidentally email you again. Aggregate, de-identified statistics that can't be traced back to you may be kept indefinitely.

Your choices and rights

Unsubscribing. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also email us at unsubscribe@secondstorywardrobe.com and ask to be removed. We honor every opt-out within 10 business days. We will never charge you a fee to unsubscribe or require you to give us any information beyond your email address and your preference.

Access, correction, deletion, and portability. You may ask us to:

• Confirm whether we're processing your personal data, and get a copy of it;

• Correct anything inaccurate;

• Delete it entirely;

• Provide it to you in a portable, readable format;

• Tell you the categories of third parties to whom we've disclosed it.

Email hello@secondstorywardrobe.com with your request. We'll respond within 45 days and may extend once by another 45 days if the request is complex, in which case we'll tell you why. There's no charge for a reasonable request, and you don't need to create an account to make one.

If we say no. You have the right to appeal. Reply to our response or write to hello@secondstorywardrobe.com with "Appeal" in the subject line. We'll review and give you a written answer within 45 days. If we deny your appeal, you may contact the Minnesota Attorney General's Office at www.ag.state.mn.us or 651-296-3353 (or 800-657-3787).

Opt-out rights. Minnesota law gives consumers the right to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and certain profiling. Because we don't do any of those things with newsletter subscriber data, there is nothing for you to opt out of — but if that ever changed, we would tell you first and provide a clearly labeled way to opt out before we did it.

Security

We protect your information with reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including access limited to the people who run the newsletter, accounts protected by strong authentication, and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we don't collect much, and what we do collect we guard. If a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you as required by Minnesota law (Minn. Stat. § 325E.61).

Children

This newsletter is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it promptly. 

Changes to this statement

If we make a material change to this statement or to how we handle your information, we will email subscribers about it before it takes effect and give you a reasonable opportunity to unsubscribe or withdraw consent. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.
